World Heritage Site

At the end of June 2009,
UNESCO placed the Wadden Sea
on the World Heritage List.
This puts the Wadden Sea
on the same footing as other
world famous natural wonders
on the World Heritage List
like the:
Grand Canyon in the USA,
Serengeti in East-Africa
and
Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Amersfoort  
Trilateral Workshop on Cultural Heritage

On 18 January 2012, a workshop was held at the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency in Amersfoort, The Netherlands for a presentation and discussion of the Dutch Indicative Mapping of the Archaeological Values (IKAW) and the applicability of the method and the approach in a marine wide Wadden Sea context. At the workshop participated experts from the LancewadPlan collaboration from Germany and The Netherlands, the Dutch agency and other experts.

WebGIS Wadden Sea Region Planning Portal

The Wadden Sea Forum e.V. (WSF) in co-operation with EUCC – Die Küsten Union Deutschland e.V. (EUCC-D) maintains the Wadden Sea Region (WSR) Planning Portal, based on a GIS. This portal is an innovative application mapping the WSR including the EEZs of The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.

The Planning Portal has a focus on existing and partly planned activities in coastal and off-shore areas. It contains a wide range of uses, facilities and protection demands and is designed to meet the information needs of integrated management and marine spatial planning.
